“Our dear grandmother,

Since you left us, we can’t put our feelings into words.

There were tears and laughter, silence and chatter, hugs and loneliness, and our common loss of you, our beloved queen and our beloved grandmother.

We, like many, thought that you would be here forever. And we all miss you terribly.

You were our matriarch, our guide, a loving hand on our back, guiding us through this world. You have taught us so much and we will treasure those lessons and memories forever.

Now, dear grandmother, we want to thank you. Thank you for making us laugh, for being with us, for gathering heather and raspberries, for marching soldiers, for our tea parties, for support, for joy. You, being yourself, will never know the impact you have had on our family and many people around the world.

The world mourns for you, and all these tributes and honors would make you smile. All of them too accurately reflect what a wonderful leader you were.

We’re so happy you’re back with Grandpa. Farewell, dear grandmother, we are honored to be your granddaughters, and we are very proud of you.

We know that dear Uncle Charles, the King, will continue to look up to you as he, too, has dedicated his life to service.

God save the king.

With love,

Beatrice and Eugenia”
