In the early 1960s, there was a denim boom in the USSR. Real American jeans came into fashion, but it was impossible to buy them in the store. Soviet manufacturers offered trousers made of denim. Also on the shelves you could find Polish and Indian jeans. So they bought from speculators at the price of a monthly salary of a worker at a factory.

But over time, inventive Soviet citizens found a way out – they purchased domestic models and cooked them so that stains appeared on them, like on imported ones.
