Mikhail Gorbachev, the first and last president of the USSR, died01.09.2022
This spring, Mikhail Gorbachev received congratulations on his 91st birthday. Even then, information appeared that he was not feeling very well. Relatives did not talk about his state of health, but journalists reported: the first and last president of the USSR is suffering from kidney problems.
Then it became known that Mikhail Sergeevich had been under the close supervision of doctors for more than a year. “From time to time, Gorbachev gets his blood cleaned,” says a source from a Moscow clinic.
His health had been poor for a long time. In 2016, he was given a pacemaker, and a few months later, his eye lenses were replaced due to cataracts. Diabetes mellitus also made itself felt.
Late in the evening on August 30, it became known that Mikhail Gorbachev had died at the age of 92.
“Mikhail Sergeevich Gorbachev died this evening after a severe and prolonged illness,” the Central Clinical Hospital confirmed.
