At the peak of his writing career in the middle of the last century, Truman Capote was surrounded by women from American high society. Wives of important people, incredibly rich and elegant – Capote called them “swans”. They accompanied the writer everywhere – at parties, yachts and traveling around the world. The sarcastic Capote, who was not interested in women in terms of love, was popular and trusted by the “swans” and did not inspire any danger to their husbands.

In 1966, Truman hosted a grand Black and White Ball. He rewrote the guest list at least twenty times, and before the celebration he held test parties – dinners to which he invited unreliable guests to decide whether they were suitable for his event. Of course, the main stars of the ball were his secular girlfriends, who, like no one else, knew how to shine in society.

However, in addition to an impressive collection of diamonds and wardrobes filled with couture creations, the “swans” had something not intended for prying eyes – secrets that they carefully guarded, but still told the writer.
