How to save yourself from pharyngitis?23.06.2022
The idea of drinking liquids in the treatment of pharyngitis is to soak the secreted phlegm that forms in the throat when coughing, and thus speed up its removal from the body. In addition, the constant consumption of liquids keeps your throat from drying out, preventing dry cough, which exacerbates the symptoms of pharyngitis.
Hot liquids, the same tea, have been used to treat tonsillitis and other throat diseases for thousands of years. And for the treatment of pharyngitis, this method will be effective. Moreover, for these purposes, you can use not just black tea, in any supermarket or in special food stores that sell healthy food, not to mention pharmacies, you can find herbal teas that are specially designed to treat pharyngitis and other throat diseases. By the way, you can fight a cough not only with “hot therapy”, but also with cold therapy – to temporarily drown out a sore throat, you can suck on ice cubes.
Treatment of pharyngitis does not require a doctor’s prescription. In most cases, pharyngitis goes away on its own within a few days. For those who are more comfortable with medication, medications that combat the symptoms of pharyngitis, such as mild pain relievers or throat sprays that contain ingredients with a freezing effect, can be advised. These medicines will relieve you of a sore throat and will be able to temporarily ease swallowing.
What is acute pharyngitis
Acute pharyngitis is called pharyngitis itself, which occurs immediately after exposure to the infection on the mucous membrane. Almost any infection transmitted by airborne droplets affects the throat, because this is the main part of the respiratory tract. At the same time, any invasive infection causes a sore throat – measles, mumps, possibly chicken pox, infectious mononucleosis, pharyngitis.
Illness due to stress
Symptoms of acute pharyngitis begin with soreness in the throat. The back of the throat turns red, small protruding areas of lymphoid tissue become visible. The sputum becomes thick. The patient may find it difficult to speak. Lymph nodes in the neck swell, touching them causes pain. Symptoms of acute pharyngitis can also appear on the tonsils.
Treatment of chronic pharyngitis
Chronic pharyngitis is usually referred to as the consequences of untreated acute pharyngitis. Antibiotics are usually used to treat chronic pharyngitis. In this case, the doctor prescribes antibiotics for the treatment of sore throat only if he confirmed that the disease is caused by a bacterial infection. Other than antibiotics prescribed by a doctor, the treatment of chronic strep throat is no different from that of acute strep throat: drink plenty of fluids to clear phlegm and avoid caffeine and alcoholic beverages, which increase irritation and dehydrate the body.
Treatment of pharyngitis with folk remedies begins with the traditional remedy for sore throat – honey. In some cases, especially in suppressing coughs, it works even better than the medicines we buy in pharmacies. One of the popular folk remedies for the treatment of pharyngitis is a mixture of honey and lemon juice: dilute two tablespoons of honey and a teaspoon of lemon juice in a glass of hot water. The resulting mixture should be drunk several times a day. Remember that honey is not recommended for children under the age of one year.
